Serving Strategically and Sustainably

As most of you know, a couple of years ago we launched New Community Outreach (NCO) to strategically and sustainably lead our outreach efforts in the community. Having a non-profit allows us to raise funds from outside of our church and neighborhood in order to partner with friends and partners like Bright Star Community Outreach in the good work that's been happening in Bronzeville for a long, long time. I'm happy to report that, after just a couple of years, NCO has an operating budget of more than $70,000! These funds go to pay our staff, fund the Back-To-School fair and the restorative justice programming at Dyett High School among other things. God is good!

In the months to come you'll hear about ways to serve with NCO and opportunities to help raise money in order to serve more students throughout Bronzeville. In the meantime, please read the most recent NCO update for more about the good work that you're a part of.

Giving Challenge Final Numbers!

Thank you so much for your generosity at the end of 2019. Because of your faithful giving we surpassed our budgeted income and are able to give everything beyond that to our friends at World Relief in their work with immigrants and refugees. Check out this short thank you video from World Relief.

Community Prayer Requests

1) Pray for the administrations and students at Jackie Robinson Elementary School and Dyett High Schools. Pray especially that our good relationships and partnerships would continue.

2) It's a few months away, but our Back-To-School Fair team is already at work. Pray for Melody, Alicia, and Warren as they lead us to serve our neighbor.

3) New Community Outreach has a $20,000 fundraising goal for 2020. Pray that new financial partners will join us in this important work of coming alongside students who've experienced trauma.
