Summertime Highlights

Is it fair to say that we're smack dab in the middle of the summer? School is still a few weeks away, the weather is predictably muggy, and the White Socks are 18 games back. So, here are a few summer-ish updates to keep in mind as you soak up these warmer days.

On Sunday I announced that we are currently $14,000 behind our budgeted giving/income. We often experience a summer slump in giving, but it's not something we want to get used to. If New Com is your church home and you've not started giving regularly, this would be a great time! You can give on Sunday mornings, or set-up regular giving online.

Have you decided which August Community Meal you're visiting? If not, sign-up online today (there are a few open spots this weekend) or in the lobby on Sunday.

Our Back-to-School Fair is on Saturday, August 24th and we need everyone to volunteer! Be sure to sign-up this Sunday.

As we head toward fall we will be recruiting new members of our Sunday Ministry Teams. Be on the lookout for chances to serve with our hospitality, set-up, and Kid City teams.

There's a bunch of other great stuff happening in the coming weeks, so be sure to check the calendar below. Lastly, Kennicott Park has some scheduled maintenance on the gym coming up, so we won't be able to use our regular worship space on August 11 or 18. We'll still be at Kennicott, just a different room for two weeks. If New Com is your church home, please help us out those Sundays; I'm sure there will be some extra set-up and we want to make sure our guests feel very welcome those days.

- Pastor David

PS Thanks to everyone who came out for our community prayer and praise last week. It was an amazing evening of worship and prayer with our friends and neighbors!

Community Prayer Requests

1) Aldermen Dowell and King: At the Community Prayer and Praise event we got to hear from our aldermen about some of the challenges they are working on. Please keep our elected officials in prayer as they work to serve all of their constituents.

2) Facility Search: Did you know our church has begun to prayerfully discern what sort of long-term facility will be a good fit with our identity and mission? It's still very early in the process, but it's never too soon to pray for the Spirit's wisdom and direction!

3) Back-to-School Fair: Continue praying for our fair leaders, for many volunteers, and - most of all - that the community and school would be well-served by our efforts.
Your generosity helps our ministry flourish. Please see this fact sheet to learn more about how to give or visit our website to give online. Thank you!
In the summer our community groups and Thursday night Bible Study take some time off, so we've organized these community meals as a chance to stay connected to community and meet some new folks. You can sign-up this Sunday or online today. There are still some spots open for a dinners this Friday and Saturday!
