SWaM FAIR 2017 @ CNU
"GET ON THE BALL - BUY SMALL!"

Christopher Newport University (CNU) will be holding its 2017 SWaM Fair on Thursday, November 9th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the David Student Union (DSU) Ballroom located on the main campus of CNU. This event is FREE!

This year’s event is entitled “Get on the Ball-Buy Small!” and will be focused on growing business opportunities for small businesses. This event will present opportunities for small businesses to participate in a matchmaking session with CNU buyers, network with other companies and sign up for sessions hosted by SBSD and the Department of Purchases and Supply (DPS)/eVA, “Selling to the Commonwealth”. MORE

SBA LAUNCHES LENDER MATCH TOOL
 
SBA's new online referral tool, Lender Match, helps connect small business borrowers with potential SBA lenders. Applicants simply fill out a quick online form describing their business needs and they'll be matched with interested lenders. Local SBA assistance, including counseling information and resources are available to entrepreneurs; please click here obtain more information.

Isle of Wight Economic Development, in partnership with Franklin Southampton Economic Development, invite you to join us for a FREE Employment Law Lunch N' Learn Workshop on Thursday, December 7th at the Franklin Business Center. Presentation by Kristina Vaquera, Jackson-Lewis PC. More details coming soon!
FORKLIFT, CLAMP TRUCK AND REACH TRUCK OPERATOR CERTIFICATE
With new construction and the expansion of existing facilities, the demand for warehouse and distribution center employees is increasing every day. In response, Paul D. Camp Community College’s Division of Workforce Development created a Forklift and Reach Truck Operator Certificate Course to enhance your chance for employment in this growing industry. In this new class, you will participate in forklift, clamp truck, and reach truck driving drills and receive a forklift, clamp truck, and reach truck operator certificate. You will also learn OSHA safety requirements and receive classroom and operational certificates.

Dates: Nov. 20-22 and Dec.12-14
Times: 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM
