Business Interruption Grant Remains Open for Small Businesses
Apply Today!

Isle of Wight County and the Towns of Smithfield and Windsor established the COVID-19 Business Interruption Small Business Grant Program to help businesses impacted by COVID-19 recover and reopen. This grant program is fully funded by Federal CARES Act proceeds and the County began accepting applications June 5th.

This grant is one-time financial assistance for eligible, for-profit small businesses (fewer than 50 employees) to reimburse the costs of business interruption directly or indirectly related to certain sections of Governor Northam’s Executive Order 53. Grants are available for an amount up to $2,000 per business. There is a limited amount of funds for this program, and the application period will close when funds are depleted. Grant applications will be processed and funded on a first-come, first-served basis upon submission of a complete application and all supporting documentation.

This program is administered by the Isle of Wight Economic Development Department. The grant application is available on the COVID-19 Grant Program website.

Welding on Wheels
Classroom comes to Students

Camp Community College recently acquired an eight-bay mobile welding lab and will offer training in the 4-week Fast Track Welding program, as well as the Virginia Ship Repair Association's Marine Trade Training Welding program. Students completing the Fast Track program are eligible to test for the American Welding Society (AWS) Certification and those finishing the marine welding program are candidates for jobs in the region’s shipbuilding and repair industry. The new lab will help meet the growing demand for welders in the region and can be transported throughout the college's service region to high schools, prisons and employer sites.  READ MORE
