WEDS 22 MAR

Austra’s music is now more relevant than ever; her dystopian-tinged, trepidatious pop hits are as much uplifting as they are challenging. Canadian vocalist and producer Katie Stelmanis leads the beguiling electronic project, which sets out to achieve exactly what Convergence champions: innovative use - and discussion - of technology in music. Stelmanis cites varied and various touch-points such as Naomi Klein, Star Trek, cyborgs and Latin American dance music as inspiration for new album Future Politics, and her live show at Village Underground promises to be no less distinctive and equally captivating. Joining her in support is 4AD artist and enigmatic voice Pixx.

THU 23 MAR

After releasing Shobaleader One: D'demonstrator in 2010, cult producer Tom Jenkinson, aka Squarepusher enlisted friends under the monikers of Strobe Nazard (keys), Arg Nution (guitar) and Company Laser (drums) to perform as a new live project, Shobaleader One. The group aim to smash preconceptions about modern electronic music, which they feel has become tepid and conservative due to the ease at which it can be made using modern commercial technology. In response, Jenkinson decided to “make a band sound like an insane band”. Experience the spectacle at Village Underground on 23rd March. Otherworldly and magnificent tropical psychedelia outfit, Flamingods join in support.
