Dear member, 

We are reaching the end of the first year of the Digitalisation Working Group (DWG). Our main objective during 2021 has been to set the core elements to promote the exchange of good practises and information among regional economic development practitioners to boost the twin green and digital transitions of the European regions.  

It is now time to look ahead and take forward the DWG. For 2022 we will invite you to have an active role in our activities to take the most out of this network. We invite you to read carefully this last newsletter of the year to discover what new opportunities will bring 2022.  

We look forward to a new year full of opportunities for your region.

Moving forward: what is new for the WG in 2022? 

The new year will come full of activities for the digitalisation. In 2022 we want all of you on board to explore new partnerships, discover new funding opportunities and exchange good practices.
 We bring forward different possibilities for you to take an active role in our activities:

  • Do you want to share your views and suggest new topics for 2022? we invite you to contact us and share your ideas.
  • Have you identified a workshop you would like to moderate? please let us know.
  • Would you like to promote a success story of you region linked to any initiative related to digitalisation? please share it with us.
And because we want to boost the networking among the members of the WG, we offer you the opportunity to share a short profile of you RDA. Are you looking for new partners for your projects? Would you like to learn from other regions on a specific topic? Follow these steps to start matching with other regions:

 Funding Opportunities  
I3 instrument is now open for submissions

You can now submit you application to the I3 instrument until February 1, 2022.
The I3 WP aims at promoting innovation through Smart Specialisation and interregional collaboration. The I3 supports stronger interregional cooperation in investments and makes sustainable connections by linking regional ecosystems in shared smart specialisation areas vital to accelerate market uptake of research results and stimulate innovation.
Therefore, its focus is on:

Strand 1 - Financial and advisory support for investments in interregional innovation projects

Strand 1 targets partnerships to help them accelerate market uptake and scale-up of innovative solutions in shared smart specialisation priority areas, as well as to develop a portfolio of investment projects.
Strand 2a - Financial and advisory support to the development of value chains in less developed regions

Strand 2a focuses on increasing the capacity of regional innovation ecosystems in less developed regions to participate in global value chains, as well as the capacity to participate in partnerships with other regions.

IDEPA: Open Innovation projects under Open Innovation 4.0 programme

Five projects related to virtual and augmented reality solutions systems, digital solutions for the optimisation and flexibility of complex industrial processes, the use of additive manufacturing processes and the development of technologies that favour the advancement of smart grids have been approved under Open Innovation 4.0 programme.
Open Innovation 4.0 is an initiative of public-private collaboration between IDEPA, CEEI Asturias and driving companies established in Asturias for the development of an innovative programme that allows the acceleration and traction to market of young innovative companies.

The aim of this programme is to create a relationship of interaction between these small innovative companies and other larger and consolidated companies in the market. In this way, technological progress and the digitalisation of companies towards Industry 4.0 will be achieved.
