Ask Brazilian beef company not to destroy Ayoreo lands

Brazilian beef company Yaguarete Porá is destroying one of the last refuges of the uncontacted Ayoreo Totobiegosode tribe.

Their rapidly shrinking island of forest is being converted into cattle pastures for beef that is sold to Europe, Russia and Africa.

Any contact between company workers and the uncontacted Ayoreo could devastate the Indians, who lack immunity to diseases brought by outsiders.

Please write to the company’s director asking him to stop the work and hand back the land to the Ayoreo.

If this doesn't work for you, you can use this text to send an email to the company's director at mbferraz@terra.com.br and reservayaguarete@gmail.com:

Dear Mr Bastos Ferraz,

I am extremely concerned to learn that your company is once again carrying out work in the Ayoreo Totobiegosode’s forest.

The Ayoreo have been struggling to regain title to their ancestral land for 20 years, which includes the land owned by your company, Yaguarete Porá.

Uncontacted relatives of the Ayoreo are known to live in the area where your workers are cutting down the forest. Any contact between the workers and the Indians could prove fatal.

Contacted members of the tribe have repeatedly expressed the fear and frustration they felt when they were forced to flee from machinery and men destroying their forest home to make way for cattle ranching.

Please immediately stop all work in the area and hand the land back to its rightful owners, the Ayoreo Totobiegosode, before the tribe is wiped out.

If you have five minutes, please write your own message. This is much more powerful.
