Farewell and New Beginning

Greetings RIVA Supporters and Volunteers,

As many of you know, my desire to work full time on behalf of other species has been a dream of mine for quite some time.  I have recently accepted a position as the Program / Volunteer Coordinator at Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, located in Willow, a small hamlet just outside of Woodstock, NY.  I will be leaving my position as President of RIVA this week and making the move to the Catskills to begin a new chapter in my life.  Please consider this to be my sincere goodbye to everyone.

I want you all to know that I am truly leaving RIVA with mixed feelings; happy about my new career opportunity to advocate for billions of innocent beings but sad to be leaving such a great group of volunteers who have become wonderful friends and colleagues.  I hope that my new job will give me such rewarding experiences and supportive friends.

The last decade of co-founding and leading RIVA has been an enriching and powerful experience.  I have many fond memories of our work inspiring others to become vegan and begin to rethink their food choices.  A deep gratitude goes out to all the volunteers over the years who have donated their time in some way, however small or large.  I realize there is so much more work to do and I am confident that our newly elected officers and board members will continue to advance RIVA's critical mission of advocating veganism.

I'd like to introduce the newly reorganized team!

RIVA Officers:
President - Laura Barlow
Vice President - Heidi Carla
Secretary - Melodi Landi
Treasurer - Tom Abbott

Board Members:
Tom Abbott
Laura Barlow

Please note that our address and phone number for future correspondence has been changed to:

While I plan to visit Rhode Island and attend future RIVA events, I invite you all to visit Woodstock Sanctuary to witness the healing and education that happens every day.  The area is a haven for arts, music, shopping, hiking, skiing, tubing, camping etc.  And the sanctuary has events and music concerts frequently during the warmer months.  Best wishes to everyone and let us all continue working towards a world of peace and justice for ALL.
