Meet the Physiatrists of

Before surgery is contemplated, think physiatry.

A physiatrist (pronounced fizz-ee-at' trist) is a medical physician who specializes in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation. Physiatry is a specialized non-surgical branch of medicine that addresses problems that touch upon all major systems in the body, using aggressive rehabilitation to promote the restoration of maximum function to people with problems ranging from simple physical mobility to complex cognitive functions.

Physiatry Services Available:
  • Evaluation and consultation
  • Non-operative treatment of the back, neck, knees, shoulder, and feet
  • Musculoskeletal disorders
  • Fibromyalgia treatment
  • Pre-and post-surgical injury management
  • Independent medical exams (IME's) and Disability ratings
  • Electromyography (ENG's)
  • Fluoroscopic spinal injections-cervical and lumbar

Meet Mary Bush....

Helping you work with your Catastrophic Cases In Baltimore

An R.N. since 1970, I worked mostly in the Operating Room for 30 years, part of which was at Union Memorial Hospital from 1976 through 1981, working with Dr. Raymond Curtis while he established the Curtis National Hand Center. Leaving the Operating Room in 2001, I have been an Admissions Liaison for 10 years, first 7 years with Lifebridge in Baltimore, the last 3 with NRH in DC, covering the entire Baltimore area as well as distant hospital cases. Evaluating patients on-site and distant, I coordinate with our physiatrists and Admissions Office staff to bring patients into our excellent acute rehabilitation facilities. I am happy to meet with workers comp case managers and patient families to help determine the best placement options.

Summer Running Recap!

From L-R: Adam Hollmeyer: BDR, Justin Cooper: Harborview Clinic Coordinator, Jasmyne Smalls: Harborview Clinic Assistant, Barbara Scherr, White Marsh PT, Josh Billings and Family: Clinic Director Harborview, and John Roca: Wilken's Avenue Clinic Coordinator

NRH, MedStar Sports Health, and Harborview Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy were proud sponsors of the EC5K and the Duthe2 Duathlon!

NRH participated in and sponsored the EC5k early on July 30th. There was a great turnout and it proved to be a perfect day to race! The great thing about the 5k race was the diversity of runners. There were professional athletes who looked to improve their time, as well as novice runners who just wanted to be part of the fun! We even had groups that came to walk the 3.1 miles to help out the great cause!

NRH was also present at the Duthe2 Duathlon on August 7th! It proved to be a humid morning, but the race was a huge success. Athletes from all over the DMV area showed up to compete in Howard County’s first Duathlon. The race consisted of three phases - a 2 mile run, followed by a 25 miles of cycling, and finishing strong with a 4 mile run. Harborview Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy was present to show the new AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill © to injured or recovering athletes. For more information about the AlterG, check out our website by clicking
here, or visiting www.nrhrehab.org.

All proceeds for the EC5K and the Duthe2 Duathlon went to Adventures For The Cure and Back On My Feet.

NRH will also participate with Union Memorial Hospital as official sponsors of the Baltimore Running Festival, half marathon, on October 15th.  Visit the Marathon's website for more detail:
