Hey Inhabitants!
Welcome to October! With Halloween on its way, spooky spirits are beginning to stir and we're getting ready for some ghoulish Green Halloween fun -- so stay tuned for the launch of our annual Green Halloween Costume Contest for Inhabitat and Inhabitots! This week we also wrapped up our coverage of the London Design Festival and brought you the hottest new green building innovations from West Coast Green. Finally, the thing we are most excited about this month is almost upon us....... our upcoming exhibit in NYC about the BP oil spill - we hope to see you there!
ANNOUNCING: An Inhabitat NYC Art Opening!!!

New Yorkers: Join Us For Mired in The Bayou -
Exploring the human face of the Gulf Oil Spill
We've all seen images of the Gulf Oil Spill - filmy waters, desolate shorelines and blackened, lifeless animals, but what about the lives and livelihoods that have been destroyed? On October 15th at the 99% Gallery in Brooklyn, NY, Inhabitat will present Mired in the Bayou, a brand new art exhibit opening in New York City. Mired in the Bayou presents a thought-provoking portraiture project, audio narrative and objects revealing how the BP Spill has impacted and continues to impact the community of people on the Gulf Coast. We'll also be hosting an opening reception that night from 7-10pm, so be sure to stop by if you live in NY! In the meantime click here for an online sneak peek of Mired in the Bayou.

WIN A TRIP TO NAPA VALLEY!

This month, some of our Inhabitat team shared their stories of finding surprising, un-intended uses for mundane objects; marketing guru Kevin shared how his wireless modem landed him a date, Inhabitat editor Yuka shared how to turn a Fedex bubble envelope into a crafty laptop case, and editor Jill (that's me!) gave her story on how she made new friends with a Voltaic solar backpack.
Do you have a story of inspired creative reuse where you found a surprising new use for an everyday object? Share it with us and you could win an all-expenses-paid trip to scenic Napa Valley, California!
