Greg Horne Music News
January 26, 2015

Hello my heavily layered and vitamin D deficient friends. I have some shows to let you know about, starting with a radio/internet live appearance at noon on Tuesday, January 27 - that's tomorrow! Scroll down for shows, and a bonus pic from a special show last year.

We haven't been out to play as much lately as in the fall, but the new year is cranking up for live shows with Greg Horne Band, RB Morris, Jay Clark, the Bearded, and solo shows.

In the meantime I've spent the last couple of months working in my tiny studio on the Greg Horne Band album, and on a movie score! There is a feature length film currently in post production, made right here in Knoxville and directed by my friend Amy Leigh Hubbard. It is full of songs by Knoxville area artists, and I got the opportunity to fill in the gaps with an instrumental score. So I set up my mics, drums, bass, lap steel, guitars, mandolin, etc. and went to work. I'll keep you posted on when it will come out.

Another bit of good news is that my original 3-volume Complete Acoustic Guitar Method, published by Alfred Music, has been released in an updated second edition. It's been in print continuously since 2001, and last year I gave it an overhaul with lots of new material. You can find all of my guitar, uke, mandolin, and songwriting books on the Alfred Music website, Amazon.com, and through music stores.

On to the shows. Please come out and support us when you can! Remember there are full details, lots of music and videos at my website: greghornemusic.com!

Waynestock is back for another year. It's three nights of awesome Knoxville bands from all over the musical map coming together to benefit a cause. This year's benefit is for WUTK, FM 90.3, which is a massive supporter of local and independent music. Come any or all nights. It's cheap, you'll have a great time, and you'll get a concentrated dose of what our music scene is. I'll be playing in the big Neil Young tribute finale on Saturday night with Tim Lee 3, Sam Quinn, and a bunch of our friends.

Here's a shot from an amazing night at the Stone Fox in Nashville back in November 2014. The RB Morris band played two sets. Pictured from left is drummer Paul Griffith, me, RB Morris, bassist Dave Jacques, and John Prine, who came to watch the show with his wife Fiona. What a night! Not only that, but Mickey Raphael (from Willie Nelson's band) sat in on harmonica the whole night. These are all things I never thought I'd ever do. Thanks to RB, Mr. Prine and the fellas!
