science made simple  July 2016
Holidays are coming!
The summer holidays are upon us and we've been busy presenting fun science shows and workshops as an end of term treat. Discover below our new resources including James' 'Stool Scale' video, and have a go at some football science with our try it at home 'Magnus Effect' activity.
Bend it like...Bale?
With Wales doing spectacularly well in this year's UEFA Euro 2016 tournament, we looked at the physics of football, and the way Bale makes those great curving shots.  There's a lot more to it then you may think.
Star Trek: Science Fact or Science Fiction?

Get ready for the latest Star Trek movie being released later this month, with a look into the science behind the Sci-Fi. Where is the line between fiction and reality in space exploration?
The Royal Society Summer Exhibition
joined David Price in St James Park this month to investigate the science of ducks!
Our intrepid science busker David was quaking with excitement at the prospect of mixing science street performance and waterfowl! People flocked to David to hear our science stories about duck navigation, floating and flight!
Matthew was at the National Astronomy Meeting this month, showing off the latest virtual reality work that he has been doing for space made simple. He gave a talk about the VR projects and apps that space made simple are working on, including a virtual tour of the International Space Station and a VR app about the European space Agency mission Gaia.
