DOF Medical Enrichment Workshop

Hello from the DOF Foundation!
We can't wait to share what we had in store for our May Monthly Enrichment Workshop.
Starting off our Workshop, Dotun Ogunyemi MD led this month's wellness presentation on the value of optimism. Students participated in surveys on dispositional optimism and decision making styles to gain self-awareness of their specific outlook on life whether more positive or negative. Students learned about positive thinking, and reframing to increase resilience. They were also learned how to create an optimistic mindset
Kendall Johnson, our medical student presented this month's Healthcare Topic on Diabetes, exploring the various types of diabetes, the causes, preventative measures we can take in mitigating the disease, and public health implications it presents to our communities and health care system. We are thankful for Kendall's input on this important topic!
The DOF Foundation was given the great privilege to perform a Q & A with an exemplary healthcare provider, Dr. Edwin N. Kendrick, MD, MBA, RPVI, a vascular surgeon and president of a technical healthcare consultant company serving underrepresented communities. Dr. Kendrick shared a great deal of his life experiences growing up, his dedication to medical practice, desire to serve and give back to his community, and his passion for songwriting and music making. We are deeply honored to have Dr. Kendrick join us for that workshop and look forward to hearing more on his future endeavors!
Lastly, all students were counselled and deliberated to develop short term and long term SMART (specific measurable achievable relevant timely) goals.
