So, it's the end of January. How’s your 2015 shaping up? We love new beginnings and the time they offer for reflection and planning. Over ambitious resolutions might already be looking a little wobbly, (three runs a week! In this weather! We don’t think so) but the big picture goals are still clearly in sight.
For Christmas, we gave out some special notebooks to our clients, and kept a couple for ourselves. Over the last few weeks we’ve been looking back, and forward – using the notebooks for thinking, scribbling, plotting, writing. Same for you? 
What's new in digital this year?

We've also gorged ourselves on marketing trends posts for the year. The article that struck the biggest chord was this bombshell from Econsultancy.

What's new in digital marketing this year? Nothing. Nothing at all, says the founder of Econsultancy. The technology is already there.

"What we are lacking is good ideas and the interactive design craft needed to apply what is already possible to create transformational value." 
More thinking, more creativity, less technology

We've had big data, programmatic advertising, and the initial excitement about social and content marketing. We now have tools, brilliant tools coming out of our ears, and really – there's nothing significant on the horizon. Your marketing success won’t come down to a new tool. Everything you need, and more, is already out there.
We don’t need more tech. We need more thinking and more creativity. Less focus on finding ways to talk at the many, and better ways of talking with the few. In 2015 we need less ways to project, more ways to connect (tweetable). Let's work out what to DO with the tools we already have, what to SAY with them.

Businesses with purpose will win the day 
It's not how you say it but what you have to say to the world that matters in 2015 (tweetable).
Businesses with authentic missions and big ideas will find success. People with heartfelt purpose finding their communities and communicating creatively in the right places – that's what will win this year. 
That’s the message that filters through our own predictions post too. Back to traditional marketing says Joe Pulizzi. More humanity, creativity, collaboration say Henneke Duistermaat and Terri Lucas. So what does that mean to you and your marketing? 

We foresee a year of much needed introspection and communication from the heart. By all means get the platform in place – the tools and the tech you’re going to use to communicate. But focus time and attention on what you have to say as a business too. 

So uncover the big message this year - your mission and purpose as a business. Get clear on the story you want to tell. Find your why and share it in 2015.
