Understanding ASD Among Illinois Children
Help policy makers understand the experiences of Illinois families with a child with an autism spectrum disorder!

Without information about the experiences and needs of families in our state, policy makers cannot allocate resources to address unmet needs. A joint effort by Northern Illinois University, the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Chicago involves a survey for families of children with a child 18 years or younger who was diagnosed with ASD in the state of Illinois.  The purpose of this survey is to advance understanding of diagnosis and service experiences in order to meet unmet needs and improve outcomes for Illinois children.
If you are the parent of a child 18 years or younger who was diagnosed with ASD in the state of Illinois and would like to participate in the survey, please use the following link to begin:
If you would like to complete a paper copy of the survey, or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Lucy Bilaver at (815) 753-2436 or We greatly appreciate your interest in this study, and are confident that this project will serve to better understand the experiences and needs of Illinois families with a child with ASD.

Understanding Mealtimes on the Spectrum
This study targets parents of elementary and middle school children with autism and has two parts: (1) we record a family meal in the home and (2) we interview one parent and the child with autism. Families receive a $25 after the dinnertime observation and a $50 after the interviews.  For more information call Sarah Curtiss at 217-300-5994 or go to the registration website
