No. 31

From the Headmaster

RGS Worcester is now an Apple Regional Training Centre which means that we join a group of over 100 schools nationally that offer training in the use of Apple technology in the classroom as part of a community programme. This is recognition of the progress RGS has made in our Digital Learning Programme and will provide us with the opportunity to share best practice with a network of other schools. The staff and our pupil Digital Leaders presented to 50 visitors from primary and secondary schools in the area at our launch, which was introduced by the Education Business Development Manager from Apple UK.
I hope that our pupils are enjoying their Field Day today with trips going far and wide, including a number of Duke of Edinburgh Award and CCF expeditions. Also on the co-curricular front, please do join us next Tuesday for the Choral Concert in Worcester Cathedral during which we look forward to the choir performing John Rutter’s ‘Gloria’. In sport, there is ‘Superball’ on Saturday 19 March at the University Arena.
Finally, next Wednesday, we have a large number of representatives from different career paths and Universities attending our Higher Education and Careers EXPO at the School from 4.00pm. This event is open to all pupils and their parents and we strongly encourage all Year Ten, Eleven and Sixth Form pupils to attend. This is an exciting opportunity to consider different options for ‘life after RGS’ and is not to be missed!

RGS’s young team, with only two Upper Sixth students in the starting eleven began brightly with Alfie Cook and Max Hawksworth both getting behind the King’s back four and troubling the goalkeeper. Congress to Campus
As part of our A Level Politics studies, a group of Upper Sixth students travelled to the Rothermere American Institute in Oxford. We attended 'Congress to Campus', an event aimed at bringing the American political system to life despite being 4,242 miles away here in the UK. Our first talk was on 'The Inside Story' led by two former Congressmen - Ken Kramer (Republican - Colorado) and Larry LaRocco (Democrat - Idaho). Read more here.
