14th Annual AFA & AFROTC Aztec "Shoot Out Scholarship Golf Tournament ~ Friday April 7, 2017
Please join us for our 14th Annual golf tournament to benefit scholarships supporting the young men and women cadets of Detachment 75 of the Reserve Officers Training Program (AFROTC) at San Diego State University. This is our major fundraising eventfor 2017 to benefit Air Force ROTC cadets.
These future officers of the United States Air Force need our support to help them succeed as leaders serving our nation.
The tournament on April 7, 2017 will be at Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos, California. Tee time is at 1:15pm with registration opening at 11;15am. Every golf course designer wants to challenge golfers to hit the right shot without punishing them for missing a shot or two. Ted Robinson, course architect, has created a golf course that finds this balance.
The fairways at Twin Oaks are scenic and can reward golfers' accuracy off the tee. The greens are quick and true; read your putt correctly and your ball will find the hole.
Format is a scramble: All members of a team (usually four) tee off and the best ball of the four tee shots is selected. All players move their balls to the spot of the best ball. From this point, all golfers hit their next shots and the next best ball is selected. This process is repeated until one golfer gets their ball in the hole.
Donations & Prizes:
A host of great prizes will be given away at the tournament dinner at 6pm following the day of golf. Items include green fees at some of the top courses in the county, golf accessories and equipment and local events and destination attractions.
You can register and pay online on our website. Individual registration is only $100 with a generous discount for foursomes who register as a team. You can also join us for dinner for only $25 per person.
We hope to see you there and please share with our invitation with your friends.

In the All Services Division, the Varsity team from the Scripps Ranch HS AFJROTC program, the Patriots Blue team from the Patrick Henry HS NJROTC program, and the D!@m0nd$w0rd team from the Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) San Diego Region are going.
Some of these team have been to the National Finals before with the NSCC team going for the 6th year in a row. The two Oak Valley MS teams and the Del Norte HS team are all coached by Paul Johnson.
We wish all of the teams the best of luck during the Finals. We will be attending their awards ceremonies to present both CyberPatriot and Chapter 118 certificates. Also, we congratulate all 104 teams from San Diego that started the competition last fall.

December 2016 Commissioning Ceremony at the USS Midway
December 12, 2016 was a cold, rainy and windy day on the flight deck of the USS Midway Museum. However, in the hangar deck the wind and rain did not bother those who were in attendance.
Chairs were arranged in front of a small stage with Old Glory hanging in the rear of the service flags of all for services.
The Joint Commissioning Ceremony for members of the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) commenced with the presentation of The Colors.
Vice President Gene Alfaro attended the ceremony to represent Chapter 118.
Two members of the Air Force ROTC from SDSU were among those who received their gold bars. After repeating the oath of office, Lt Aleksandr Stashik and Lt. Jacob Armstrong had their rank pinned by members of the family and friends.
