A new publication from the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop and the Center for Global Education at Asia Society introduces educators, youth development leaders, and parents to innovative technology tools that can help children learn about, understand, and engage with our increasingly interconnected world.
Divided into three parts, Digital Play for Global Citizens helps students build awareness of themselves and the world around them, recognize and investigate the history and complex, systemic causes of contemporary issues, and use digital play to explore the natural world.
From exploring boundaries, borders, and geography; to developing empathy and understanding of diversity; to developing a sense of curiosity and wonder about nature; this guide introduces practical, ready-to-use resources and techniques for using digital play to promote global citizenship. Read on »

NCSS Outstanding Social Studies Teacher of the Year: The annual NCSS Outstanding Teacher of the Year Awards recognize exceptional classroom social studies teachers for grades K–6, 5–8, and 7–12. Deadline: April 30, 2018.

Clements Worldwide Expat Youth Scholarship: Students ages 13–21 who have resided in a foreign country for at least six consecutive months are invited to show through visual means what piece of local community/culture has most impacted them. Deadline: March 28, 2018.

2018 BP Global STEM Academies: AFS and BP have partnered to launch a new study abroad scholarship summer program for secondary school students with demonstrated interest in STEM. Deadline: March 30, 2018.
