Honeyland
Check out our opening film Honeyland.

We are so excited to be joined by Katherine O’Brien of Bee Potion - she will be outside the cinema giving free tastings of her wild honey fresh from her hives at Fairlight to welcome you in! Think that queuing is boring? Not this time!

Some Voices
SEAN'S PICK OF THE WEEK

SOME VOICES

Sean Hollebon from our Young Electrics film programmers group recommends Some Voices, which stars Daniel Craig as a schizophrenic. The film looks at his relationships with his brother and a pregnant woman. At one point in the story they have a getaway to Hastings - see if you can spot our fine town.

ANNIE'S YOUTUBE PICK OF THE WEEK: ON THE LIST WITH WILLY VLAUTIN AND FREDDY TRUJILLO

Our marketing manager, Annie, recommends some escapist birdwatching with US musician, Freddy Trujillo and his The Delines bandmate, US author and musician, friend of the Electric Palace, Willy Vlautin. (See pics from his visit to the Electric Palace in 2014.)

The pair head into the Nevada wilderness. They hike in the Goshute Mountains to meet up with Hawkwatch International on its annual count of various raptors. It's absolutely charming viewing.

Also featured in the series is fellow Portland musician, The Decemberists' Jenny Conlee.

THE LAST THURSDAY FILM CLUB PICKS...

Another intriguing and fascinating regular pick by The Last Thursday Film Club. Dr Reekie from the club suggests:

"This week's pick is a much neglected gem starring one of the most underrated pop icons in British music history, the inimitable Bing Selfish. It's an international no-budget science fiction thriller in Catalan and English featuring aliens, gangsters and spectacular musical routines. As the Libre Albedrio collective insist: Imagination is power!"

Better Off Dead
VOLUNTEERS' CHOICE: BETTER OFF DEAD

Our cinema volunteers recently held a lockdown online watch party of John Cusack’s Better Off Dead - a virtual get together in spirit until we can gather at the cinema once more.

Whilst it didn’t fare so well at the time, this teen, black comedy from 1985 starring John Cusack has gone one to become a bit of a cult classic from the director, Savage Steve. A quirky, slightly screwball film, but Cusack is always great to watch, and the soundtrack is fab too!
