Investing in the Next Generation of Female Football Leaders

Seven inspirational young females who completed the Irish Football Association (IFA) Female Football Leaders Programme had their achievement acknowledged at a graduation ceremony in Stormont on Friday 16th January 2015.

Explaining why the IFA developed a training programme to specifically support young females Niamh Shiells, Director, Advance Coaching & Course Tutor says:

"Despite the trailblazing success of women like the Sunderland chief executive, Margaret Byrne, and West Ham United's vice-chair, Karen Brady, women remain very much in the minority in leadership positions in football and the IFA Female Football Leaders Programme aims to change this situation."

Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry today launched a consultation into a new youth training system for Northern Ireland.

The consultation envisages a new system of youth training which will be recognised nationally and internationally by young people, their parents and guardians, employers and further and higher education providers for its quality, flexibility and transferability.

Lord Mayor calls on Belfast SMEs to Boost their Broadband and Business

The Lord Mayor has called on SMEs in the city to boost their broadband and their business.
Councillor Nichola Mallon was attending a seminar in Duncairn Centre, north Belfast providing information to businesses and social enterprises on how they can benefit from the Super Connected Belfast Voucher Scheme as well as the Super Connected Cities Business Growth Initiative.

NI Enterprises Set to Benefit to the Tune of £95,000 from RBS

A youth mentoring project at the Oh Yeah Music Centre in Belfast is one of three Northern Ireland winners in a recent round of funding for youth enterprise from Ulster Bank's parent company, RBS.

Under its Inspiring Enterprise programme, RBS is providing £95,000 to Northern Ireland projects as part of £500,000 in grants being allocated each year for three years to organisations across the UK. These are intended to help young people explore enterprise, develop their skills and start-up in business.

Lisnaskea Student Celebrates Academic Success

Nikita McGoldrick, from Lisnaskea, who has recently graduated with a BSc Hons Business Studies with Options degree at the Ulster University Business School in Magee, has won the Londonderry Junior Chamber Prize for Industrial Practice for achieving the top mark in her Placement.

The Award was presented at the annual Ulster University Business School's Student Awards event organised by the Department of International Business

The Commission has Launched a Formal Investigation under the Sex Discrimination Order (NI) 1976

The Commission has launched a formal Investigation under the Sex Discrimination Order (NI) 1976 into the treatment of pregnant workers and mothers in the workplace across Northern Ireland.

The Commission hopes that the investigation will explore the experiences of pregnant women and mothers returning to work and identify any barriers to equal treatment. The investigation will also report on examples of good practice by employers, those who provide pregnant women and mothers with equality of opportunity in the workplace.
