What’s a Favicon and how do I get one?

A favicon (short for favorites icon) is a 16×16 or 32×32 pixel square icon associated with a particular website. A web designer can create such an icon and install it into a website. Browsers that provide favicon support typically display a page's favicon in the browser's address bar and next to the page's name in a list of bookmarks. Browsers that support a tabbed document interface typically show a page's favicon next to the page's title on the tab.

For example, go to Contemporary Business Solutions’ website and you’ll see a small square logo in the tab for the page, to the left of the address bar and, if you were to bookmark the page, this logo would also appear next to the bookmarked website in your favorite’s menu.

If your website was built using WordPress, this is the easiest PlugIn I’ve found to install favicons for my clients. Check it out.

What can you give away for free?

For me in my business, it’s my time. In your business, what can you give away for free that will allow your prospects to get to know you and your business better and perhaps test drive your product. We all do business with those who we know, like and trust. Networking is good, but how can you take your business to the next level? How can you demonstrate how you’re different than your competitor?

Read my blog post for some suggestions on what you can give away for free.

Testimonial

I initially meet Suzanne through the Unemployed in Des Moines networking group she started. I was instantly inspired by her enthusiasm, initiative and resourcefulness in successfully creating her own consulting business – Contemporary Business Solutions. I recently attended her Social Media Workshop Series which I would highly recommend as a wonderful introductory source to gain instant knowledge in social media. She continues to be a key mentor as I now navigate developing my own consulting business. Her multi-faceted business expertise coupled with her “get it done” attitude proves to be a great resource for both start-up and well established companies.
