Dear Valued Members
We Miss You and want all of you to know how much you mean to us! Our heightened sense of who we are and what our Mission directs us to be, has never been more apparent. We are not just a place to lift weights, run on a treadmill or track, engage in group fitness activities or swim… we are a family! Please know that during this time of great disruption, we at Ascension Genesys Health Club can relate to what you, your family and friends are dealing with since we are also experiencing the same issues personally and professionally.
As we struggle with what our “new normal” will look like, know that we are actively planning for our eventual re-opening. Without any directives from the state or national level, the management team is exploring a variety of scenarios with regards to cleaning, sanitizing, class/program sizes with physical distancing being at the forefront of our plans. We assume the state and/or federal government will be issuing new health club mandates but until they do, we are proactively preparing for what we believe things might look like.
Per Governor Gretchen Whitmer's press briefing today, the Executive Order to shutter health clubs has been extended through April 30, 2020. Unless we hear otherwise, it is our hope to reopen in May.
Regarding maintenance and infrastructure issues we have managed to accomplish a few things while the club has been closed:
- Therapy and lap pools have been drained and cleaned to avoid having to close the pool later this summer as would normally be the case
- Pool deck has been scrubbed
- Hot Tubs and Cold Plunges have been drained, cleaned, and grouted
- Track has been cleaned
- Tennis Court floors and surrounding areas have been swept and washed
- Laundry Room floor as been painted
- Men's Locker Room showers have been regrouted
- New LED lighting has been installed in the Women’s Locker Room
I believe with every negative there is at least one positive. With that, I am asking that you share your positive and inspirational stories related to the Covid-19 pandemic and how it has impacted your life, directly or indirectly. This could be anything from what new things you have done with your family or maybe what you or someone you know has done to make masks, deliver meals or help your elderly neighbor who needs groceries. This could also be what you have learned about yourself as you introspectively look deeper into who you are and what new priorities you might now have. We would like to share these stories with your fellow members to encourage everyone to stay positive, and focus on all the good that is happening around us. Please send your stories to AGHCmembership1@gmail.com.
We at Ascension Genesys Health Club look forward to reconnecting with you soon! Please stay safe, positive, and strong as we continue to navigate uncharted waters.
