Who are the Maya Road teachers coming to the event?

We are pleased to have Aubrey Rives, Katie Watson and Lisa Pace join us for this event.  Each teacher brings a unique style and will show you how to transform Maya Road products into amazing projects.  Read on for the teacher bios to learn more about them!

What about the projects?

How many people will be in each class?

Can you tell us a bit more about the teachers and classes?

Of course!  Let's start off by meeting the teachers and seeing some projects they have done in the past.

Aubrey Rives

Aubrey lives in Lockhart Texas with her husband Nolan and their two beautiful daughters, Taylor and Morgan.  She is a career educator currently working on her master's degree.  In her spare time she is a scrapbooker and hobby enthusiast (quilting, stamping, pen and ink art, sewing - just to name a few).  She has been a member of the Maya Road design team for over three years.  Although she is very busy between teaching, going to school and raising two active daughters, Aubrey has managed to be published a couple of times in magazines such as Scrapbook Trends and Paper Trends.

Five Fun Facts about Aubrey:
  1. loves wearing jeans, a t-shirt and her Dr. Marten boots
  2. put herself through college as a bartender (and now she's a school teacher..hahaha!)
  3. is a 13 year breast cancer survivor
  4. has a champion German Shorthaired Pointer (who has sired 17 champion puppies to his credit)
  5. would sell everything in her house and buy an RV so that she could camp out during the year (while she is teaching) and travel all summer long.
Here are some samples of Aubrey's work

Katie Watson

Katie lives in San Diego California with her husband, three children and two cats.  She is a design team member for Maya Road, October Afternoon and Creative Therapy.  Her work can be found in Scrapbook Trends and Simply Handmade including their special edition issues.

Katie has been scrapbooking for 7 years and crafting since she was a child.  She teaches at her local scrapbook store and at scrapbooking events.  Her work has also been featured on her local news, QVC and on a PBS scrapbooking show.  You can find more of her work and tales of her day-to-day life on her blog

Five Fun Facts about Katie
  1. wanted to be an archeologist when she was little
  2. is deathly afraid of roaches
  3. was a synchronized swimmer for many years when she was younger
  4. hated the commercial "Katie the cleaning lady" when she was growing up (blames her natural aversion to cleaning on this)
  5. loves to dig in an old dump in Montana near her aunt's house
Here are some samples of Katie's work

Lisa Pace

Lisa lives in Frisco Texas with her husband and two daughters.  She is the Special Projects Coordinator for Maya Road and a Certified Fiskars Demonstrator.  Her first book "Delight In The Details" was published in January 2010 by North Light Books.

In May 2007, Lisa was picked as one of 5 master scrapbookers in Martha Stewart's scrapbooking contest and in August 2007 was chosen as a 2008 Memory Makers Master.

Her work has been published in magazines such as Memory Makes, Scrapbooks etc., Better Homes and Gardens, and Scrapbooking & Cards Today as well as numerous idea books like Holiday Home, Scrapbook Trends, Paper Trends, Paper Creations and Scrapbooking & Beyond.

Five Fun Facts about Lisa:
  1. wore camo and trained her Golden Retrieve Sonny in the field for AKC hunt tests.
  2. custom painted children's furniture and artwork.
  3. worked as a dental assistant for 8 years.
  4. won first place in an art contest at the State Fair in the third grade.
  5. would wear a white t-shirt every single day for the rest of her life but friends and family won't let her.

Here are some samples of Lisa's Work

Each of the teachers will be bringing their style of work and incorporating it into a 3 hour Journey where you will learn new ways of working with Maya Road products along with other products.  They will share with you some tips and tricks to make your Artistic Journey a success.  Peeks of the classes will be posted about 1.5 to 2 months before the event.  The sample images of their projects should give you an idea of their unique styles and designs.  The class they design will be unique to this event.
