We are pleased to announce Artistic Journey 2011 brought to you by The Crafty Scrapper. This event will feature 3 of Maya Road's talented design team members who are set to inspire you to try new techniques and learn new things on your Artistic Journey as you learn to create Artful Memories.
Our inugural 2010 event was such a success and we are back to inspire again in 2011!
Come share with us a weekend of fun, laughter and learning. Join us on this Artistic Journey September 30th - October 2nd, 2011. Read on to learn more about the Journey!
When Is The Event Scheduled And What Will You Get For The Price?
The Artistic Journey will begin on September 30th (around 2 pm) and end on October 3rd (around 3 pm), 2011 at the home of The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie, TX (approximately 30 minutes south of downtown Dallas).
Cost of the Artistic Journey 2011 is $275.00.
Included in this $275.00 price are:
Three 3 hour classes with 3 teachers from the Maya Road Design Team
Class kits chock full of delish scrapbooking products (just bring your basics)
Full color instructions of each project to take home
Meet and greet with all the teachers
Exclusive Make and Take with all the teachers, one of the Maya Road Partners and the Owner of The Crafty Scrapper on Friday evening
Snacks throughout the Journey
Catered or box lunch on Saturday and Sunday
Hors d'oeuvres during the Make and Take Event on Friday evening

A special online social group on Facebook set up so you can 'meet' the teachers two months before the Journey begins

When Do Sign-Ups For The Event Start?
Sign-ups will be taken over the phone only by calling The Crafty Scrapper starting on April 27th, 2011 at 10 am Central time. There are 80 slots available. Spaces are available on a first come, first serve basis. The phone number to call is 972-923-3151.
Please have your credit card, address and email address ready at sign up. Please also let us know at sign up if you have food allergies. We will start a waiting list if there are more than 80 people interested in attending.
Do You Offer a Payment Plan?
To keep things simple, we will not be offering a payment plan this year.
What If I Need To Cancel?
If for some reason you cannot make the event, you are welcome to sell your ticket. Please let us know the details of the sale ASAP so we can make sure they are on the list.
If we have a waiting list, we will try to find someone to fill your spot. If we do find someone, we will refund your money for the event. We cannot guarantee a refund unless there is someone who can fill your spot.
Who Are The Maya Road Teachers Coming To The Event?
We are pleased to have Dina Wakely, Lisa Pace and Shelley Haganman join us for this event. Each teacher brings a unique style and will show you how to transform Maya Road into your own Artful Memories. Read on for the teacher bios to learn more about them!
What About The Projects?
Each of the Maya Road designers teaching will be sharing a very special project that they have created especially for this event. Each teacher will share some tips and ideas with you to make your own Artful Memories with Maya Road products a success! We will be sharing a peek at the projects during upcoming updates.
How Many People Will Be In Each Class?
We decided to keep this event small as we wanted each person to get individual attention from each of the teachers. Each of the classes will have only 26-27 students. The classes will be taught at either The Crafty Scrapper crop areas or at a nearby location that you can walk to from the store.
What About Accommodations and Travel?
Attendees are responsible for their own travel arrangements to the event. If you are flying, you can fly into the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) or Dalla Love Field Airport (DAL). Both are located about 45 minutes from The Crafty Scrapper.
We have made special arrangements with The LaQuinta Inns and Suites in Waxahachie, TX. Rooms are only $69/night plus tax and includes free hot breakfast, wifi and more. Accomdations are the responsibility of the attendees. You can book the hotel by calling them directly and mentioning you are with the Crafty Scrapper AJ Event. This price is good through June 30th, 2011. The hotel is located about 3 miles from The Crafty Scrapper.

* September 30th 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm - Meet & Greet, Make 'n Takes, Shopping, Badge Decorating
* October 1st 10:00 am to 1:00 pm - First class
* October 1st 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm - Lunch
* October 1st 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm - Second Class
* October 1st 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm - Free time for dinner or shopping
* October 2nd 9:30 am to 12:30 pm - Third Class
* October 2nd 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm - Lunch

Can You Tell Us A Bit More About The Teachers and Classes?
Of course! Let's start off by meeting the teachers and seeing some projects they have done in the past.
Meet Dina Wakely:
Dina lives in Glendale, AZ with her husband and three boys. She love everything about scrapbooking! Dina also does visual journaling and mixed-media art. Her style is messy and imperfect and artsy. She love to travel to cool places, eat good food, and hang out with good friends. Dina is a docent (tour guide) at the Phoenix Art Museum. Dina has been published in Somerset Studios, Scrapbooks, Etc and other magazines. She teaches mixed-media art throughout the world.
Three random facts about Dina:
-She can make killer homemade bread and cinnamon rolls. I even grind my own wheat for the bread.
-She hates putting away her laundry (or anyone else's laundry for that matter).
-She has a collection of stuffed monsters.

Meet Lisa Pace:
Lisa lives in Frisco and has been on the Maya Road design team since 2007. Her first book, “Delight In The Details,” was published in January of 2010 by North Light Books and her second technique based book is scheduled for publication in January 2012. In May of 2007, Lisa was picked as one of 5 master scrapbookers in Martha Stewart’s scrapbooking contest and August of 2007, was chosen as a 2008 Memory Makers Master. Her work has been published in magazines such as Memory Makers, Scrapbooks etc., Better Homes and Gardens and Scrapbooking & Cards Today as well as numerous idea books like Holiday Home, Scrapbook Trends, Paper Trends, Paper Creations and Scrapbooking & Beyond.
Lisa teaches exclusively in the surrounding area at The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie, Texas where she teaches a wide variety of mixed media classes and workshops.
Three random facts about Lisa:
-She would love to refurbish and live in an old barn.
-She would rather be freezing than hot (unless it’s bath water).
-She thinks Stickles is the botox of the scrappy world… you can always use a little.

Meet Shelley Haganman:
Shelley Haganman is a single mom of three children from Iowa City, Iowa. She is a part time Operating Room Nurse at the University of Iowa Hospital. She started scrapping in 2002. She loves photography, traveling, scrapping, and making projects. Shelley has been published in Sommerset Memories and several
issues of Simply Handmade including special editions. Shelley is on the Maya Road DT, The Scrap Review Team, The Story Matters DT, Creative Therapy, and the Pink Trike Designs DT (digital).
Three random facts about Shelley:
-She is a survivor of malignant melanoma.
-She has a child with Autism.
-She is obsessed with fabric even though she can barely sew a straight line!

Each of the teachers will be bringing their style of work and incorporating it into a 3 hour Journey where you will learn new ways of working with Maya Road products along with other products. They will share with you some tips and tricks to make your Artistic Journey a success. Peeks of the classes
will be posted about 1.5 to 2 months before the event. The sample images of their projects should give you an idea of their unique styles and designs. The class they design will be unique to Artistic Journey 2011.
