the art of online conversation
A Message from Robin Winsor, President and CEO of Cybera
The ability to have meaningful interactions with clients and partners is vital in this age of social connectivity, and I believe Twitter is the best tool out there for carrying out such discussions. More and more, Cybera is finding that Twitter is a great forum for sharing research, connecting with like-minded organizations, and even locating computing resources. No longer can it be viewed as a niche forum for tech-savvy or trendy individuals. I think it’s time for the general populace to discover what everyone is "tweeting" about. To learn more about Winsor's thoughts on the art of online conversation through Twitter, read his post on the Cybera blog.

NEP projects LOOKING FOR USERS
For the past two years, Cybera has managed two CANARIE-funded Network-Enabled Platform projects: the Cloud-Enabled Space Weather Platform (CESWP) and the Geospatial Cyberinfrastructure for Environmental Sensing (GeoCENS) project. As 2011 comes to a close, so does Cybera's role in these initiatives. CESWP, after a successful live demonstration on November 29, is accepting user applications in the new year. Click here for more information. Additionally, GeoCENS has received further CANARIE funding to continue its development into 2012, and has also issued a call for users. Click here for more information.
farewell to Jana Makar
We take this opportunity to say farewell to Jana Makar, Cybera's Director of Communications. Jana has been an integral part of the Cybera team for over seven years. In that time, she helped facilitate the organization's transition from Netera Alliance to Cybera, evolved Cybera's annual Summit into a major networking event attracting an international audience, and played an essential role in expanding Cybera's presence in Alberta's IT community and beyond. We wish Jana well in this new chapter in her life, and we thank her for her dedication, patience, creativity and passion for all things tech!
