On Essex Mums this month
Can it really be April already? I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling that time passes much quicker when you have kids than it did before having them... saying that though, Spring appears to be trying to settle in which means nicer weather and lots of fun meet-ups in the glorious outdoors. Well, let's hope so anyway!
Third Birthday Party
Last month I mentioned it was the site's third birthday and I'm pleased to invite you to the slightly belated party on April 18th. It'll be a little lower key that last year, more because of my own lack of motivation than anything else, but should be a nice event. It'll be at my house in Westcliff, so send me a message or email if you need the address. More details are in this thread here.
Fancy an Easter egg hunt, something crafty, or just something to keep the kids entertained over the Easter Holidays? Then take a look at the Things to Do section to see what's on near you.
Mums (and Dads) to be
There's a new section of the site just for you to find out about what's on for expecting parents. Whether you're looking for ante-natal classes, or general events for parents-to be, you'll find them here. It's a new section so please do share anything you know about too. While you're there, you might want to swing by the Pregnancy section, or ask a question to our lovely midwife Lorraine from Birth Affinity.
Meet Ups and Facebook
I did this a while ago and a few people were interested but it sort of fizzled out. I thought it might be nice to have people across the county who are keen on meeting up in their area to suggest some ideas for meeting up, now that the weather is nicer, and I can post them on the facebook group so that they go out to the members on there. If you're not a member of the group yourself, you can join it : here. I thought if possible it would be great to have people from each of the main council areas, so that's: Basildon; Braintree; Brentwood/Billericay; Castle Point; Chelmsford; Colchester; Epping Forest; Harlow; Havering; Maldon; Redbridge; Rochford; Southend; Tendring and Uttlesford. You don't have to do anything beyond suggesting ideas for meeting up once in a while - just post them in the Meet-Ups section of the forum and I'll add anything that's put here to facebook too. Let me know if you're interested - I know people are often a little hesitant to suggest something if they don't know anyone so it seemed like a nice way of getting to know new people.
Many of us (myself included) will be finding out which school our little ones are going to in the next week or two, although I'm sure you'll all agree they seem far too teeny to be starting school already! You might like to chat about it with other Mums in the same position in the Schools section of the forum. Whether it's wanting to share news of where your child is going, talk about what to do if you're unhappy wit the result or just chat about what happens next, it's always nice to speak to others who have been in your position.
Buying and Selling
Don't forget you can list things you have for sale totally free on Essex Mums. Just post details (and a photo if possible) in the Selling section of the forum.
New on the Shopping Guide
The new Shopping Guide is now up and running, with both a shop listing and a product listing to help you find that perfect gift, whether it's for someone else, or for yourself! The guide features lots of lovely products that are a bit different to what you'll find on the High Street, and new products are being added all the time. Take a look! If you are interested in being featured, please let me know.
