Lots going on this month - from fireworks to festive fun. I thought I would dedicate this newsletter mainly to the events and goings-on you're all interested in!
As long as the weather holds out, most families across the county will be off to some sort of Bonfire celebration this weekend or next, so here is a list of fireworks near you. I'm sure there are some I haven't discovered so if you know of one that isn't listed here, please email me the details on email@example.com and I'll get it added. Likewise, check the Fireworks page for any updates.

Chicken and Frog Bookshop
Chicken and Frog Bookshop is the independent children’s bookshop in Brentwood. We stock a wide range of books for babies to teens, including board books, graphic novels and books for parents too.
Throughout the week we run a whole host of sessions, such as storytime, rhythm & rhyme time (French and English), ‘Discover a Book’ (stories followed by craft with Claire Mackaness of Beautiful Things, who has a concession in-store) and ‘Bring Daddy to Storytime’.
But that’s not all! We provide affordable, high quality tuition in English and Maths, from KS1 to ‘A’Level.
And...you can book us for a book and/or craft-themed party.

Half Term Events
Half-term is already half way through (where does the time go?!) but if you're wondering what to do for the rest of the week, make sure you take a look at the Things to Do section for ideas. If you do go along to something, make sure you mention you heard about it on Essex Mums!
Christmas Shopping Guide
Our Christmas Shopping Guide is now full of lovely gift ideas for the whole family: make sure you take a look at the Alternative Shopping Guide and the Product Guide for some ideas for unique and unusual presents for the whole family, and check out some the lovely shops that are listed there. Many are small businesses run by parents just like us, so not only are you buying a lovely gift, you're also helping small often local businesses stay alive! Yay! If you have your own shop and would like to be featured, please get in touch - listings start at just a pound!
Every year on the forum we have a small Secret Santa - it's only a bit of fun and we usually just spend a fiver or so on each other, but is a nice way of getting to know everyone, and of course it's always nice to get a little pressie! If you're interested in joining in, come and take a look at the Secret Santa 2012 thread. Don't be shy!
It might be a little early to be getting Christmassy, but as the month progresses I know many of you will be starting to think a bit more about it, so would like to devote a bit of newsletter space to all the fantastic festive fun there is to be had. If you're thinking of planning things to do nice and early, take a look at our Festive Fun page, which has listings for all sorts of Christmassy events, from Christmas Markets, through Lighting-Up Events, to Pantos and much more.
It's not too early to get your children booked in to see the big man in red. Whether you want to meet him at a local bazaar or go all out for a winter wonderland, you'll find it listed here. Below are a few that you can contact already, but keep checking the Meet Father Christmas page as more places announce when they will be visited by the one and only (ahem) Santa Claus this year.

NEW support for Essex parents
THE 3 OF US is a new service launched in Essex to help new mums and dads to explore your feelings about parenthood, your relationship and the day to day challenges of life with your baby. When you have a baby, it’s not uncommon for it to put a lot of stress on you both as a couple, so investing in your relationship is one of the best things you can do for yourselves and your baby. You can choose between a face to face session or an online workshop. Visit www.the3ofus.org.uk/essex for more details.
As always there is lots more going on this month too! As we've already been through so many events, I won't list more but you can find full listings on the Things to Do section.
Things to win! Check out the great competitions we currently have running - lots of goodies for kids and Mums alike! If you would like to run a competition yourself please let me know - it's a great way to advertise for free and also give something lovely to parents in Essex!
