While the temperature outside is just starting to climb, it may seem too soon to be thinking about summer. We need to talk about it now, because it can be such a tough time to market our schools. Our buildings are "dead," parents are on vacation, and teachers are enjoying their time off, but it is important to remember that over the summer, prospective families are actively exploring their options. We can't let marketing "take a back seat" in the summer.
Because summer is a critical time for enrollment management, our team put together a list of expectations, a few things that must happen throughout the summer. These are expectations from the marketing team as well as your Regional Directors and Sr. Mary Paul.
- School will remain open in July (not necessarily Mon-Fri, but open)
- School representatives are available for tours
- School is in acceptable condition for tours
- Voicemail is updated to reflect summer schedule
- Signs are posted on all school doors with summer schedule and contact information
- Main entrance is clearly marked
- Follow up response time of 2 business days or less to all inquiries
- A well maintained and updated website
We also came up with some summer marketing suggestions....
Work closely with your parish and surrounding parishes to speak at Mass, set up school table, etc.
Communicate directly with RE families
Participate in Community Events
Host Summer Programs/Camp
Partner with Local Community Organizations
We will discuss each of these ideas in greater detail during the AMEN webinar on April 15 from 12:00-1:00 CST. Register here: http://bit.ly/AMEN-Summer
Summer provides an excellent opportunity to assess your school's curb appeal and take the necessary steps to improve it. A new flower pot with beautiful flowers can make your entrance more inviting and a new coat of paint can make your school look fresh. With members of your school community, set aside time to work on a project or two that will make your space more attractive. Here are a few examples of what our excellent first year principals, with help from volunteers and staff, accomplished in a short time last summer!
