Bear Hugs From Build
a Bear Workshop

A child at Home Start received a real treat when she helped to stuff, name, and give a magical heart to her own stuffed bunny, as part of the new Build a Bear Workshop's Grand Opening at the Roseville Galleria.  The Workshop unveiled their new, interactive touch screen "factory", where workshop associates help children build a new best friend.
As part of the festivities, guests were invited to stuff up to 200 animals for Home Start.  The stuffed animals will be used for children's birthday and holiday gifts throughout the year, as well as raffle items for our upcoming Holiday Teddy Bear Tea, December 1st at the Flower Farm Inn, Loomis.  We thank the staff at Build a Bear for their support of Home Start, and for giving one little girl a day (and a new friend) she'll never forget!

Loyal Local Support

Thank you to Cooks CollisionTarget Foundation, Walmart Foundation, River Cats Foundation, the City of Roseville, and some who choose anonymity, for their continued, loyal support of our programs for homeless families with children.  Each of these groups has donated to Home Start for multiple years. We have a long history of collaborating with other agencies, corporations, and foundations throughout Placer County and regionally to ensure the most comprehensive matrix of services are available to all needy families.  Our ongoing collaborations strengthen Home Start’s social capital in the same way that developing social ties strengthens our homeless families. Multi- year funding reflects the level of credibility Home Start has in the community.  We are grateful for the loyal support of our community, and look forward to our continued partnership as we help families in need for years to come.

Back to School with the 20/30 Club

Thank you to the Active 20-30 Club of Greater Roseville/South Placer #36  for taking the school age kids on a shopping spree of a lifetime, and ensuring they have what they need to start a new school year!

Fit is Fun Keeps Kids Busy this Summer

The Fit is Fun Program continues to challenge, excite and educate the youth at Roseville Home Start this summer through athletics, nutrition and general wellness activities.
In addition to swimming, hiking, roller skating, neighborhood walks and games, we have incorporated visits to the local library and the Environmental Science Museum & Exotic Wildlife Rescue Facility (STAR ECO Center) in Rocklin.
We have been focusing on building healthy snacks together this summer, and had a fun trip to the California Pizza Kitchen to build our very own yummy pizza! It was educational and tasty. Special thanks to the CPK at the Roseville Fountains
Although school starts soon, the program will continue through the autumn. We are really excited to participate in the upcoming 4th annual Family Fun Run here in Roseville over Labor Day Weekend. Please join us!
