1. The enduring legacy of John Lewis

🌟 On Saturday, Central Atlanta Progress will celebrate the life of late civil rights leader and congressman John Lewis with a rededication of the "Hero" mural, tributes from family and colleagues, a bell-ringing ceremony, and more.

As part of the Reimagine the Legacy event, Atlanta Intown partnered with Central Atlanta Progress to produce a program for the event, which you can read here.

Along with an introduction by A.J. Robinson, there's also a feature on Lewis' favorite Downtown haunts – including the Hyatt Regency, Ebenezer Church, and Busy Bee Cafe.

The event starts at 10 a.m. at 219 Auburn Ave. NE

2. Going geothermal

⚡️ Above the Waterline columnist Sally Bethea sojourned to Iceland this summer and was not only wowed by the rugged beauty of the country, but also its embrace of geothermal energy.

Geothermal energy heats 90% of Icelandic homes through an extensive network of pipes, which begs the question why can't the U.S. become less dependent on fossil fuels and more on innovative thinking?

Putting profit over people and electing politicians not beholden to energy lobbyists is just a first step, Bethea says.
