1. Talking rail on the BeltLine

🚊 MARTA, the City of Atlanta, and Atlanta BeltLine, Inc., will host in-person and virtual public meetings next week on linking the Atlanta Streetcar to a segment of the Eastside Trail.

The in-person meeting will be held Monday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. at Dad's Garage, 569 Ezzard St. Masks are required. The virtual meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. via Zoom.

The new streetcar line would connect with the existing track at Jackson St./Edgewood Ave. and extend to the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail at Irwin St. then run alongside the trail to Ponce de Leon Ave.

This would be the first rail segment envisioned for the 22-mile BeltLine corridor.

2. A master plan for Dunwoody trails

📚 The Dunwoody City Council has approved an agreement with the PATH Foundation to create a multi-use trails master plan.

The agreement allows PATH to take the lead on the design and construction management of trails for the city.

Councilmember Tom Lambert said he hoped having a master plan would alleviate residents’ concerns about trails in the city, particularly a path along a stretch of Tilly Mill Rd.

“If we have a standard and we have a total vision, it’s much easier to present that to the public and get real feedback from them,” Lambert said.
