Competition Preparation Week for WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 held in February was a tremendous success. The event, which was hosted by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) and organised by the WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 team, included an extremely productive set of meetings. Flag-waving school children today greeted international delegates at the launch of the One School One Country programme, which forms a key part of WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017. In a colourful ceremony at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, students from 59 ACTVET and ADEC schools welcomed representatives of the Member countries and regions taking part in WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017, the world championship of skills.
WorldSkills never stands still – and even before the start of the 2017 event in Abu Dhabi, work has begun finding the city to host the global skills showcase in four years time. Two Members, China and Switzerland, expressed interest in hosting WorldSkills 2021.
