About US Sailing's Reach Program
US Sailing’s REACH Program utilizes sailing as an educational platform, challenging youth to embrace education, establish a love of learning and explore productive Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) based careers. Combining educators, sailing instructors, engineers, scientists with today’s youth to provide them with a one of a kind authentic learning experience, giving students the opportunity to apply classroom learning in a cooperative work environment.
US Sailing’s REACH Launches New Educator Course and Guide

REACH Educator Guide
Middle School Modules 1-10

The first book in US Sailing's STEM Education Series, REACH Educator Guide Middle School Modules 1-10, is now available for purchase. This unique curriculum is your complete resource guide to integrating science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) with the sport of sailing in your middle school classroom or youth program. The guide is perfect for middle school teachers, sailing instructors, camp counselors, scout leaders, youth program instructors, environmental educators, parents, and home schoolers.

US Sailing’s most successful STEM education programs implement the REACH program in a variety of ways. The modules are designed to be easily implemented in a class period, one week camp, seasonal after school program, summer sailing program, field trips, and learn to sail programs.

Curriculum consists of on-the-water, off-the-water, and classroom based learning activities. Students participating in the REACH program have a unique opportunity to apply classroom learning to their local environment incorporating the great sport of sailing.

The REACH Educator Guide is now available for purchase on the US Sailing Store.

A Note from REACH Program Manager Jessica Servis
Share your REACH experiences with US Sailing... If you are currently implementing REACH, please email US Sailing so we can include you to our list of REACH programs. We can also provide you with any updates in curriculum or implementation ideas and project partners.

Organizations such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, will contact US Sailing looking for project partners to implement REACH. The more information and feedback we receive will help shape the resources and materials we can provide.

We are excited to learn more about how REACH has made impact on your organization's programs and the people who participate. Thank you!
