Greetings, Jazz Fans! Thank you for your continued support of this great event, now in its seventh year! We recently put the finishing touches on the schedule, which yields eight sessions over the three-day weekend October 1-3.
Jazz at Newport 2010 features numerous jazz stars, including vocal legend Roseanna Vitro (left), who will also conduct a jazz vocal workshop on the second day of the festival, and the accomplished pianist and composer Bill Cunliffe. Local favorites include the smoking-hot pianist Greg Goebel and regional rising star Halie Loren.
Other highlights include the venerable John Clayton (right), returning this year to delight fans with his mastery of the jazz bass, and a former student of Clayton's, Mary Ann McSweeney, now based in New York city. The irrepressible Houston Person also returns for this year's event, promising his customary inventiveness and smoky sax-playing.
