The Met: Live in HD 2010-11 Season
'Don Pasquale' Nov. 13

OCCA is proud to present Gaetano Donizetti's "Don Pasquale" at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 at the Newport Performing Arts Center. This bel canto comedy is the third event of the The Met: Live in HD 2010-11 Season, hosted by Sandi and Ron Williams (see profile at right).

Anna Netrebko revives her sensational turn as Norina in this sophisticated comedy, opposite Matthew Polenzani, Mariusz Kwiecien, and John Del Carlo in the title role. Music Director James Levine conducts.

The old bachelor Don Pasquale plans to marry in order to punish his rebellious nephew, Ernesto, who is in love with the young widow Norina. Pasquale wants an heir so he can cut the young man off without a penny.

Update from the season brochure.Update from the season brochure: The performance duration was originally listed as four hours in the 2010-11 season brochure; the Metropolitan Opera has updated the run time from 10 a.m. to approximately 1:15 p.m., or about 3 hours, 15 minutes.

The Performing Arts Center box office is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and an hour prior to performance time. Ticket prices are $20 adult, $17 senior, and $10 student.


Look for Verdi's 'Don Carlo' on Dec. 11

Marina Poplavskaya plays Elisabeth in "Don Carlo" on December 11.A Metropolitan new production of Verdi's "Don Carlo" is the fifth event of the 2010-11 season, showing live at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11.

Director Nicholas Hytner makes his Met debut with this new production of Verdi’s profound, beautiful, and most ambitious opera. Yannick Nézet-Séguin, back after his triumphant debut leading "Carmen," conducts.

Sandi and Ron Williams each have 30-plus years in the field of education, mostly with the Lincoln County School District, as teachers, principals, and central office administrators.

Sandi and Ron are now retired but continue to share a life-long love of the arts. Sandi currently serves on the board for Oregon Coast Council for the Arts. "There are so many ways in which to become involved and to enjoy the Arts in Lincoln County, as well as other areas along the coast," Sandi said. "We are fortunate to live in a community that is so rich with varied arts opportunities for all levels of ages and interests."
