New jazz art needed!
It's an exciting time here in Newport, on the Oregon coast – and it's time to get started on the design for the ninth annual event! Here's what we're up to: the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts (OCCA) is looking for new artwork to use for the 9th annual international jazz festival in Newport. OCCA will select the winner and award an honorarium in return for use of the artwork for the 2012 Jazz at Newport event.
OCCA invites all Oregon coast visual artists to submit concepts for the 2012 jazz poster and related promotional pieces. Images should convey jazz concepts. Look at the 2010 artwork above as an example. Original artwork may be in any two-dimensional medium and should be suitable for reproduction in print, online, and in merchandise. In working with a variety of media, including print, web, video and screen printing, OCCA often has to size or crop the artwork, use only details, convert the artwork to black-and-white, superimpose text and photographs over the artwork, animate the image for web-based advertising and video, etc.
Submission deadline is Jan. 16, 2012. Only digital submissions will be considered in PDF or JPEG format, not exceeding 2MB in size. Please email submissions to Catherine Rickbone, OCCA Executive Director, or mail to the Newport Performing Arts Center, 777 West Olive, Newport, OR 97365. Final artwork delivery is due Feb. 1, 2012. Final digital artwork measuring 25” at shortest side and at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi must be submitted digitally in either EPS or high-quality PDF format on a CD or by large-file email delivery service, such as YouSendIt.
For more information, please call Catherine Rickbone, (541) 574-2652 or email her.
