The Hotline was born out of the need to respond to the harm pervasive in online games spaces and within games industry workplaces. We got good and tired of watching friends, acquaintances, creators we follow, and colleagues go through intensely challenging bouts of online toxicity and workplace mistreatment while feeling like they had nowhere to turn that got what they were going through.

We’ve learned a lot doing this work over the past two years, and we are constantly improving and learning better ways to run the Hotline as we go. Our resource “How Do I Stay Safe From A Hate Raid” came about in part because we have seen a real need for this kind of tool through our work. We’ve started offering Digital Safety Workshops for game developers and influencers and support in building custom policies and protocols for game studios and publishers. And we've been piloting a support space for people who cause harm. We know to do this because of our work on the Hotline.
