THREE THINGS I LOVE ABOUT MY WORK?
Jae Lin, Hotline Director (they/them):
- Finding different and better ways to care for each other as the games community
- Sharing solidarity with survivors of sexual violence and abuse
- A workplace where we try our best to do right by each other
Carl Murray Olsen, Hotline Coordinator (he/him):
- Supporting people and helping them through unfair and seemingly impossible situations
- I love the people I work with to accomplish our goals
- This is my first time working in the games industry so I’m excited to support a community that I’ve been socially connected with for decades
WHEN NOT AT WORK YOU'LL FIND ME...?
Jae: Reading queer science fiction novels, doodling, fawning over my cats, playing TTRPGs with friends, scheming.
Carl: Critically consuming sports, gaming, playing euchre, connecting with family
A CAREER HIGHLIGHT IS...?
Jae: Right now :) I’m so proud of the Games Hotline as it exists. I’m proud of our growing team, and I have so many dreams and ideas for where this could go. I feel so lucky to be doing trauma-informed mental health work for the games community along principles of transformative justice. It brings me so much hope.
Carl: I'm new here, so I'd say carrying the Asian Pacific American Cultural Center through remote work. It was hard but we did some really cool and fun things that helped buoy staff and students through an enormously stressful time.
FAVORITE GAME?
Jae: Divinity Original Sin 2, Faster Than Light, Factorio, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Defense of the Ancients (LFG?)
Carl: Super Mario RPG, Hades, Apex Legends, Rocket League, FTL: Faster Than Light
