The past few weeks have been hard – but Feminist Frequency isn’t giving up.
We believe that films, video games, and other media have an impact on the values of our culture. Widespread and unquestioned sexism, racism and bigotry onscreen can contribute to their normalization in the real world. The frightening increase in harassment and assault that we see taking place around the country serves as an unfortunate indicator of the speed and strength with which dangerous ideas are not only normalized but also acted upon.
Our work is vital right now and over the next four years.
Our videos, reviews, and educational content analyze popular media and advocate for more inclusive and equitable representations – of women, people of color, LGBTQ folks, and people with disabilities. And, we’re making an impact. Already this year, our videos have reached over four and a half million viewers.
We plan to raise $8,000 over the next five weeks. It’s our first ever end of year campaign and we need your help now to reach it. As a not-for-profit organization, we rely on your support to continue our work – and to make sure that it’s free and accessible for everyone. And now, you no longer have to use Paypal to support us. You can donate directly through our website using your credit / debit card.
While you help us get to our $8,000 goal, we want to help you feel supported and get connected too.
In our FREQ newsletter later today, you’ll read about the incredible and inspiring work of one community-based organization. Throughout the rest of the month, Feminist Frequency will celebrate some of our own accomplishments from the past year, and also provide you with tips on how to amplify your involvement and engage in the causes that you’re passionate about.
Donating is the quickest and easiest way to get involved now. We have five weeks until the new year. Let’s use them to support one another.
