SILENT NO MORE
The Silent No More Awareness Campaign will have their own program including testimonials prior to the WFL Rally. They will begin at 10:45 a.m., and will be on a separate stage area which will be to the far right of the main stage. Make sure to go to their Rally should you arrive early. Actress Jennifer O’Neill will be a part of their program.
OUT OF TOWN BUSES
If you are bringing a bus to the event, thank you for your hard work! To locate your bus after the Walk click here. Please make sure your bus is registered via our website. Note that no buses will be allowed to pull over at Justin Herman Plaza from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm - this means you will NOT be able to be picked up by your buses at Justin Herman Plaza. Thank you for your cooperation.
For those who are not able to attend the Walk for Life in person, we invite you to join with us in spirit via the LIVE Satellite coverage that will be available through EWTN. They will begin the LIVE broadcast from Civic Center Plaza at 11:30 a.m. (PST) with pre-rally interviews with all of the Speakers. They will also broadcast the entire WFL Rally from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. (PST).
You may also tune in to Immaculate Heart Radio for their LIVE coverage which will also begin at 11:30 a.m. (PST).
SIGNAGE AT EVENTS
You are welcome to make and carry your own pro-life signs, or carry one of our signs. However, please do not bring any kind of graphic signs or materials to the Walk for Life events such as pictures of aborted fetuses, etc. While these pictures can be a powerful tool in the abortion debate, the Walk for Life is not the appropriate venue for them. Thank you for your cooperation.
The WFL Mass will once again be at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 9:30 a.m. All priests are invited to con-celebrate and we are honored to have 10 Bishops joining us from around the West Coast as well as Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States. The Cathedral is 8 blocks from Civic Center Plaza, so some of you may wish to walk to the Plaza directly after the Mass. Please make sure that you do not leave your cars parked at the Cathedral – they need to be moved right after the Mass.
DIRECTIONS AND PARKING
It is recommended (and convenient) to use public transit at this new location at Civic Center Plaza:
BART has stations at Civic Center and at the end at Embarcadero.
CalTrain will drop off at Townsend and 4th. Take MUNI KT (4th and King), then off at Metro Civic Center.
Parking: There is also a huge underground parking lot at the Civic Center.
This year we will have a lot of new organizations and groups so there will be two tents set up at the Plaza on both sides of the EWTN stage. The Info Faire will open at 11:00 a.m. and close at the end of the WFL Rally. We are happy to help support the various ministries and apostolates that will have tables at the Info Faire. There will be all kinds of pro-life medical groups, various outreach groups, a number of Religious Orders, and even Shawn Carney from the National Office of 40 Days for Life. Please make sure to visit both of the Tents as you arrive at the Civic Center Plaza.
There are still rooms available at one of the hotels where we have blocked rooms at a special WFL Rate, Comfort Inn by the Bay – please call 415-928-5000 and tell them you are with the Walk for Life.
As always, we will have WFL relief vans which will be clearly marked to assist those who are unable to walk the entire route. If you notice someone who is having difficulty walking, please contact one of our security volunteers wearing orange vests and they will radio the van leader for pickup. The drop off point will be on the Embarcadero in front of Justin Herman Plaza. We suggest that you meet up with your party at the fountain area of the Plaza after drop off. It would also be helpful for people to carry cell phones with them for emergencies. This will also make it much easier to reconnect with your group after you are dropped off in the van. Due to extremely limited space, we cannot take the whole group in these vans – only the person who physically cannot walk the route.
FIRST AID STATION
As a security measure in the event of emergencies, we will have a medical tent on-site at Civic Center Plaza staffed by medical personnel as well as a parked ambulance.
