Walk for Life West Coast
Civic Center Plaza, San Francisco

It’s hard to believe that we have reached such a milestone already, but this January we will be celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Walk for Life West Coast! For those of you who have partnered with us in this tremendous adventure since the beginning, we are very grateful for your faithful participation and witness each year. For those of you who will be joining us for the first time, we welcome you to the WFL Family! We feel the momentum of the pro-life movement - this year alone 44 abortion clinics have closed throughout the country! Let's keep speaking out and double that number for 2014. Let’s make a special effort this year to invite our relatives and friends who have never attended the WFL – let’s make this year’s attendance the biggest yet! Let us join together with one voice, one mind, and one heart as we Walk for Life!

WFL SPEAKERS

Our confirmed speakers include: Shari Rigby, actress (October Baby); Reverend Clenard Childress, Director of L.E.A.R.N. and Grace Dulaney, Founder of Agnus Dei Foundation.  We will be announcing additional speakers as they are confirmed.  We will be featuring our speakers in individual email blasts in the coming weeks.

SCHEDULE & ROUTE

We will once again gather at Civic Center Plaza in front of City Hall.  The Silent No More Awareness Campaign will have their Rally before the main WFL Rally.  The Walk for Life Rally will be at the main stage from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.  After the Rally (at 1:30 p.m.), we will begin walking from Civic Center Plaza and will process down Market Street to end at Justin Herman Plaza at the Embarcadero. The Walk from Civic Center Plaza to Justin Herman Plaza is approximately 1.8 miles. Ending at Justin Herman Plaza gives people the opportunity to shop, rest, and eat at the various restaurants throughout the area. As another transportation option, BART is also available at Justin Herman Plaza.

SILENT NO MORE RALLY

The Silent No More Awareness Campaign will once again hold their own Rally before the main WFL Rally. It will begin at 10:45 a.m. on the side stage at Civic Center Plaza, and will go till 12:15 p.m. If you'd like to participate and/or share your testimony, please contact Georgette Forney at (800) 707-6635.

MASS

There will be a 9:30 am Walk for Life Mass at St. Mary's Cathedral at 1111 Gough St., San Francisco. All priests are welcome to concelebrate. Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone will be the main celebrant.

HOTELS / LODGING

We have negotiated and secured a block of rooms at Comfort Inn. To take advantage to these special “Walk for Life” rates, you can contact the hotel directly.  We are working on a couple more options that will be included on our website and in future email blasts.

The Holiday Inn Fisherman’s Wharf

This hotel is well located close to the Wharf and close to North Beach. They are offering a rate of $125 per night (plus tax). Call (800) 942-7348 and ask for the “Walk for Life” rate.

Comfort Inn by The Bay San Francisco

This hotel is centrally located on Van Ness Avenue, and is offering various rates. The Standard Room with 1 Queen Bed is $85 per night (plus tax). The Standard with 2 Twin Beds is $95 per night (plus tax), and the Deluxe Room with 2 Queen beds is $115 per night (plus tax). The hotel also offers free internet and hot buffet breakfast. Call (415) 928-5000 and ask for the sales department and mention that you’d like to reserve a room at the “Walk for Life” rate.

Please visit our website for other hotel and lodging options.

INFO FAIRE

The Info Faire will be held prior to the Rally at Civic Center Plaza. This will give everyone the chance to visit the booths as they arrive at Civic Center Plaza. The Info Faire will be open from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. For those who wish to participate as a vendor, the cost is $75 per table. The reservation process is now open.  Due to the space restrictions at Civic Center Plaza, we are not able to add any more tables to the tents (we were at full capacity last year).  So, reservations will be secured on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please sign up using our registration form as soon as possible!

BUSES

We ask that you register your buses as soon as possible. This will greatly aid us in facilitating the movement of the buses. Due to the overwhelming demand for bus parking we must now charge a fee of $75 per bus for buses registered before December 15, 2013 and $100 thereafter. This fee is due at the time of bus registration. This is a "per bus" charge and will only amount to $1 - $2 per rider depending on bus size. The deadline for registering all buses is January 11, 2014. Bus Packets will be emailed to the registered bus captain on January 19, 2014. Refunds are available if written cancellation is received by January 1, 2014.

DIRECTIONS AND PARKING

It is recommended (and convenient) to use public transit at this new location at Civic Center Plaza:

BART has stations at Civic Center and at the end at Embarcadero.

CalTrain will drop off at Townsend and 4th. Take MUNI KT (4th and King), then off at Metro Civic Center.

Parking: There is ample parking under the Civic Center plus 2-hour street parking.

MEDIA COVERAGE

We are blessed that the crew from EWTN will once again be providing live film coverage of the Walk for Life Rally as well as pre-rally interviews.

Immaculate Heart Radio will also be broadcasting live from the event. Check their website for your local station.
