Summer Schedule
I'm pleased to confirm our summer schedule of classes:

1. As attendance during the summer holidays is generally much lower, the children's classes are merged to take place at 7.00pm so there will not be a 6.00pm class. The dates for this will be Monday 6th August - Wednesday 15th August.

2. We then break for summer returning on Monday 3rd September at the regular times of 6.00pm, 7.00pm and 8.00pm.

- If you're planning on training at other CKD schools during this time it's highly recommended to contact the school first as many operate an amended class schedule and may even close during this time. Or you can ask me to check on your behalf.

- If you will be training during August we're planning a school lunch for Sunday 12th August at 1pm. It will be central to Ealing although the location hasn't been confirmed yet. If you are interested in joining us, please let me know by Monday 6th August.

New Black Belt Promotions
You may know that we had a number of black belt promotions in May & June - not all Ealing students, as such, but all related to Ealing CKD in some way.

Firstly, our most senior and longest serving student who joined in 2004, Ms Hilda Browne, was promoted to 4th degree black belt. Next, Mr Dean Ali, one of my earliest students who joined Hendon CKD which I ran in 2004 was also promoted to 4th degree (both Deputy Master level). Mr Anthony Wendt who formally trained and taught at Ealing CKD before opening Richmond CKD in 2007 was promoted to 5th degree black belt (Master). Finally, our very own Mr Param Sandhu was promoted to 1st degree black belt at the regional grading in June.

While considering these promotions, I started to think: how are YOU getting on with achieving yours goals in 2018

A Few Reminders

Mostly for parents, but hopefully helpful reminders for everyone else:

- Water  It's summer (you may have noticed!) and while we're currently enjoying some lovely weather we appreciate that classes can get quite warm which can affect performance. As a result, instructors will give more water breaks than normal during classes. Parents: all we ask is that you send your child to class with their own bottle of water, clearly labelled with their name. Please avoid relying on the school fountain.

- Safety equipment  Please ensure your child brings these to every lesson, again, labelled with the student name. If you need to order a set , this can be done in class or online at The Martial Art For Life Shop for £55.00 which includes the protective gloves, boots and back pack. This is the only compulsory equipment required for our classes aside your uniform. Which reminds me...

- T-shirts  The only t-shirt that can be worn in class is a CKD one! These are entirely optional but can also be ordered in class or online at The Martial Art For Life Shop for £13.00 each. They should be worn tucked in with the belt over the waistband. No other t-shirts are permitted, sorry.

Instructor's Course

A few of you have expressed an interest in learning more about becoming an assistant instructor (blue uniform) or head instructor (black uniform). Given the pending summer period when many are away, we are planning the next one-day course for September. However, if you are aged 13 and above and interested, do let me know now so I can provide the information to help you make your decision.
Any queries, please let me know.
