What is pointed pen calligraphy?
Pointed pen calligraphy is often called English or Latin calligraphy, and is written with a steel nib that is dipped into ink.
What will you learn?
The introductory class (Pointed Pen One) is perfect for the beginner, as we will cover the basics of pointed pen (English) calligraphy. We will cover the fundamentals of materials, learn basic strokes, letter forms, all while receiving step-by-step guidance. You will leave with a basic working knowledge of calligraphy.
The second class (Pointed Pen Two), will take your new found skills even further. We will cover more advanced techniques, like writing uppercase letters, connecting letters to form words, and writing with different kinds of ink.
In the Modern Calligraphy class, we will discuss what makes calligraphy contemporary, and implement a variety of ways to make your script more modern, including using different materials and techniques. By the end of this class, you will be on your way to developing your own unique style!
Flourishing will cover the techniques needed to create graceful flourishes in your work. We will play with different styles of capital letters, using loops, ovals, spirals, swirls and learn the most effective way to manage visual space when flourishing.
