CMS posts 2014 clinical quality measure tech specs
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has published the final 2014 clinical quality measures (CQMs) for eligible professionals and hospitals seeking to attest for meaningful use. Electronic health record (EHR) technology that has been certified to the 2014 Edition standards and certification criteria will have been tested for enhanced CQM-related capabilities, eligible professionals (EPs), eligible hospitals, and critical access hospitals (CAHs) will be required to report using the new 2014 criteria regardless of whether they are participating in Stage 1 or Stage 2 of the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Programs. Although clinical quality measure (CQM) reporting has been removed as a core objective for both EPs and eligible hospitals and CAHs, all providers are required to report on CQMs in order to demonstrate meaningful use. Mark Your Calendars! HIP Week 2013
AHIMA invites all health information professionals to join the celebration and be recognized during the 24th annual Health Information Professionals (HIP) Week. Formerly known as Health Information & Technology Week, the next HIP Week will be held March 17-23, 2013. To raise greater awareness and celebrate the evolution of health information professionals, the dates for HIP week were moved from the fall to the spring to coincide with AHIMA’s Hill Day, an event where AHIMA members converge on Capitol Hill to voice the importance of advancing HIM. HIP Week is an opportunity for professionals to showcase the benefits of their profession, working collectively to deliver quality healthcare through quality information. A planning kit will be available beginning in January.
