CNN Monthly e-Alert
It is hard to believe that Fall is finally here! After a fun-filled summer the weather is changing and with it thoughts of ICD-10 and Meaningful Use are filling our heads once again.
Your association is working diligently to find ways and opportunities to keep you up-to-date as well as ways to help you obtain the continuing education you need at a price that won’t break the bank. In the coming weeks you can expect to see a survey related to this topic. Specifically we want to hear what you think about coding roundtables, where you will have an opportunity to review operative reports and discuss (as a group) how to best code using ICD-10. If you attended the June 2012 educational session you heard Lori Purcell share that her home state does this on a periodic basis. Is this something that you feel would be of benefit to do in our region as well? Let us know!
We’ll also be polling our region to assess what you think of trialing audio-conferencing. This is something that has been discussed in the past. It is difficult to get away for a day, if getting away means driving to another location. What if you could meet with others in your organization and listen to the material being presented, or listen in from the comfort of your home or office? If this sounds like something that would appeal to you please make sure you let us know when you receive the survey.
The dates for upcoming educational sessions have been set, so mark your calendars now. The next session will be on Friday, December 14, 2012 at The Hotel Hershey followed by sessions on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Masonic Homes in Elizabethtown and Friday, June 21, 2013 (location TBD). Topics such as Meaningful Use, ICD-10 Implementation and Lean/Process Improvement among others will be covered during this fiscal year.
I am looking forward to leading our association this year and hope that together we can accomplish some great things! Stay tuned for PHIMA and AHIMA updates, and if you have thoughts or suggestions as to how CPHIMA can enhance what is offered to you please let me know.
