A Message from the CPHIMA President, Laura Rizzo, MHA, RHIA
Here we are, three quarters of the way through the CPHIMA year. April, already!
This week is National Volunteer Week. This is the perfect time to publicly thank our CPHIMA volunteer board for sharing their time and talents with CPHIMA:
Kristine Lucabaugh –President-Elect
Charlotte Walton-Sweeney-Past-President/Acting Director
Kim Murawski-Program Chair
Erika Donovan & Karen Traynham-Arrangements Co-Chairs
Melissa Nail-Bylaws Chair
Dan Christopher-Membership Chair
Nathan McWilliams-Nominating Chair
Jennifer Zimmerman-Public Relations Chair
Jennifer Shorts-Website Chair
Kathy Leaman & Linda Massey-Coding Roundtable Chairs
They have all done an excellent job this year by demonstrating sincere commitment to the responsibilities of their position and CPHIMA’s mission:
“The Central Pennsylvania Health Information Management Association (CPHIMA) is committed to the quality of health information for the benefit of patients, providers, and other users of clinical data.”
As I have stated to you at our Business Meetings this year, there are many benefits to being a CPHIMA volunteer. Volunteering promotes the HIM profession, provides leadership skills, and helps our members in a rapidly changing field during a transitional time period in American healthcare. Participation as a CPHIMA board or committee member also provides a great opportunity for networking and to develop lifelong friendships. Many of us of “grown up together” as HIM professionals! Please consider volunteering to serve on one of the CPHIMA committees next year or running for an elected position. It’s not too late to have your name on the ballot. If you are interested, please contact Nathan. I assure you that volunteering your time for CPHIMA will be time very well spent!
Best wishes to all of you for a beautiful spring and Easter. Thank you for the privilege of serving you as CPHIMA President.
