AHIMA House of Delegates-September 26 – Two items up for discussion
Apportionment – Nebraska HIMA is proposing a bylaws amendment to adopt a “Senate Model” for delegate apportionment, which would be 2 delegates/state.
New Jersey HIMA is proposing that states be split into three groups based on size; small, medium, and large. The states would get delegates, 2, 3, or 4, based on which size group they fall into.
Current state is that each state gets delegates based on the number of AHIMA members they have. Pennsylvania has 5 delegates because they have a large member population.
Jim Bifano stated that it seems they should keep the current method for number of delegates, because if you have a large number of AHIMA members then you should get more say. Laura said that the PHIMA board felt the same way.
Name Change – AHIIMA-American Health Informatics and Information Management Association
AHIMA e-Alert Advocacy Effort to Update the Standard Occupational Classifications for HIM Professionals. Go to AHIMA Advocacy Assistant.
