President's Message

Dear MdHIMA Members,

Spring really is here! There may be snow on the ground but the Calendar says our 84th MdHIMA Annual Meeting is just a few weeks away- that’s a sure sign our weather is going to be warmer. I look forward to seeing you at the Baltimore Convention Center for this exciting event. We have lined up some great speakers with some very interesting topics. Thursday evening we plan to enjoy ourselves with a relaxing dinner cruise on the harbor.

What a great way to spend time with fellow HIM professionals. Each year I marvel at what everyone has accomplished and discover new career paths that are available to us. I am reminded how lucky I was to discover this career for myself –even if it was a late in life revelation! Changing careers or moving into a new aspect of your career at any time in your life can be scary. It can also be the best adventure of your life. So come and join us on April 24th and 25th. Discover the new adventures that await you when”Navigating the Changing Waters of HIM.”

Monna Nabers, MBA, RHIA
President, MdHIMA 2013-2014

Leadership/Hill Day Fun

Our local members of AHIMA had a great time at the 2014 Leadership and Advocacy Symposium, March 17, and Hill Day, March 18, in Washington, DC. The Leadership and Advocacy Symposium is a one-day collaborative educational conference that brings AHIMA’s leadership together to engage in dialogue that sets the strategic direction and advocacy efforts of the HIM profession and the Association. Hill Day provides members the opportunity to interact and advocate for HIM with their Congressmen.
