POLICIES AND PROGRAMS

Mapping of nutrition policies in Latin America reveals that enabling environments have been created in all 18 countries to implement WHO recommendations but that more work is needed to develop integrated, cross-sectoral policies.

Philippines signs MOU with WFP to review the need to create an inter-agency commission for food security and nutrition.

RESEARCH AND INNOVATION

FAO’s “Africa Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition” underscores how severe food insecurity and poverty pose a major challenge to the region's ability to achieve SDG 2 by 2030.

US$6.6 billion needed annually to achieve the 2025 World Health Assembly nutrition targets in India, according to the Partnerships and Opportunities to Strengthen and Harmonize Actions for Nutrition in India (POSHAN) project.

Bangladesh’s recent nutrition gains are largely explained by nutrition-sensitive drivers within broader underlying improvements, but recent study concludes that community programs directly targeting nutrition will need to play a greater role in addressing future nutritional problems.
