LetsMove 2019 & the MW Challenge Club

Technogym's global challenge #LetsMoveForABetterWorld was even bigger and better in 2019. Almost 200,000 people took part at 1,373 facilities in 32 countries, collecting 767 Million MOVEs.

While there are many benefits to taking part, the big win for all the clubs we've spoken to is simply member engagement. Challenges like LetsMove get staff talking to more members, which improves retention. Click here to read some of the feedback and tips from our interviews with the top 10 GB clubs.

How to handle member comms post GDPR

There have been a lot of post GDPR change horror stories: some clubs struggle with getting new members to opt-in to communications, others have asked all existing members to opt back into member communications, only to reduce email permission to below 5% of membership.
On the plus side, NPS has increased, but it’s now only based on 5% of members (unsurprising, as it’s the really engaged ones!)
One mid-sized trust lost around 15% of their total members in June 2018 after emailing all members asking them to opt into communications. Of course, sleeping members were reminded that they were still paying, and cancelled their membership.

eGym users workout more and stay longer (GOM article)

We recently researched the impact that the eGym training solution has on member usage and retention.
In an article published in Gym Owner Monthly last month, you can read how members on the eGym system stay longer and visit 2.2 times more per month than non-eGym members.
The eGym premium solution engages members even more, with members visiting almost twice as much as others.
There are lots of success factors, but the key learning across 4 sites is that a great system increases interactions where needed, giving staff and members focus where it's needed.
